"Draw whatever you want to," was what I was told to do
Given a rainbow of paints, along with a canvas left blank
And with an equally pure heart, I gripped my brush at the start
Seeing everything so bright, I thought that I could do right... And yet...

Growing older, my sketches were forgotten
Everyone holds his own opinions
And I got lost trying to find who I am

No one stepped up to teach me how to draw
But they wouldn't let me do whatever I want
So then I just meshed all the colors without thought

When I peek at the world, all I see
Paint-stained clothes, resolve to not waste time on sleep
A hungry spirit lusting tomorrow as its dream
Everyone's just like me!

"Forgetting" my sketches, which I had left unfinished
Working hard every day, trying not to feel grave... And yet...

"Is something wrong with having to grow up?"
"You can't survive merely on whimsical thoughts"
The lies I've repainted so much have torn apart

There's no way you can erase a moment in your life
Let alone erase it all at the same time
The single-stroke road blurs, no longer a clear line

Turning to take a peek, all I see
Even though all my sketches were clumsy
Everything was done simply when they came to me

Look at this: the sun rising where it sets
Textbooks don't always have to be correct

RED! Red's supposed to mean go?!
BLUE! When did blue mean stop?!
YELLOW! Uh? Um, it's neither...
It's all up to how you choose to see the colors

Art is what happens when your imagination explodes
You can scratch at it, can attach it
Even scrub at it, or crumple it—
Because no matter what happens, what remains in the end
Is the color that is completely, uniquely you!
