Hello,

So. This is a journal response to dinosauruses’  Get to Know YOU! journal. (Head on over! Dino’s a cool writer and person worthy of checking out.)

I don’t mind Q&A stuff, I just don’t think anyone would be interested? Anyway:

1) Are you a writer or an artist? Both? Neither?

Hmm, I’m more of a writer. (I mean, I’m not working toward a Creative Writing Major for nothing, I hope!) While I do enjoy drawing and art, I wouldn’t say I’m an artist.

I actually used to write and draw a lot more, but most of my stuff got deleted without me saving copies back in 2016 when my iPad decided to restart completely and iCloud is unreliable af. (I really hate Apple, btw.) Because of that I haven’t been able to create as enthusiastically.

2) What fictional characters do you feel you're most like in real life? (See if you can guess mine, or tell me who I remind you of!)

I don’t know? I’m a bit like Yachi from Haikyuu!! and Tsuna from KHR, in that I’m socially awkward, clumsy, and easily impressed by my hard-working peers. But I’m also a bit like Tanaka-kun from Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge, in that I’m incredibly lazy and lethargic all the time, and Miyano from the same show, because I’m incredibly short and eager to help my friends. And just to add a bit more character (haha), I’d say Mikoshiba from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, because I get embarrassed easily even though I make rather bold or unexpected statements, I am a huge geek (in terms of anime and some K-pop at least), and I sometimes struggle to talk normally with the opposite sex (like, make proper eye-contact and that stuff because I kind of forgot how to comfortably?).

In terms of Disney, I suppose I’m like Mulan, because family is incredibly important to me, but also Belle, because I love to read.

Oh, and according to my rl friends, I’m just like Winston Bishop from New Girl.

3) How do you get your inspiration for creating art? Music? Your own experiences? Something else?

Music (rarely), interactions with other people, people-watching (it’s not as creepy as it sounds), and snippets of life I hear from friends or acquaintances. Every now and then I’ll get inspired by something I’ve read or seen (e.g. TV, movies), too.

4) When it comes to creating art, do you feel like you're more spontaneous or disciplined? As in, do you like to finish projects one at a time and by a certain deadline, or do you switch between ideas with no schedule? Do you ever wish you were more like the other type?

Haha, is this one as obvious as I feel like it is? I’m definitely more spontaneous. Sometimes I like to make self-imposed deadlines, but I rarely meet them. And, yes, I don’t focus solely on one project, but work on multiple (my several unfinished fanfic series should be sufficient evidence... as well as the stockpile of unfinished one-shots sitting in my hard drives).

Heck, yes, do I wish I were more disciplined! Do you know how satisfied and accomplished I’d feel? There’s also my watchers, but honestly, I’m here to make myself happy, first and foremost (that sounds selfish but I’m just trying to be honest).

5) What do you want to improve on in the future when writing or creating art? Anything new you want to try?

I’d love to be more efficient and disciplined, as aforementioned (but we’ll see how smoothly that ship sails). I’d also like to be more patient when it comes to my writing; I mean to say, not making my plots feel rushed, and making them smoother. Also I’m terrible at realistic dialogue (though, to be honest, it’s hard to find really good, authentic dialogue in most writing, professional or otherwise). I’m the type of person who appreciates subtlety, but doesn’t trust the general readership, so I’d like to improve on my trust of my readers (but, wow, that’s difficult).

This was fun. I’m definitely open to more stuff like this if people want to know more about what I think of myself, but, yeah, that’s all for now.

Thanks,

Roni

Oh, how interesting! Yachi is adorable haha, and I haven't seen a lot of the other series you mentioned but they'd be fun to check out. And ahh, that's cool how you're going for a Creative Writing major! I wish you all the luck in that! <3
